Safety of machinery - Permanent means of access to machinery
BS EN ISO 14122-3 - Item 5: Safety requirements of stairways
Item 5.7 Only in quite unique instances can deviations be allowed from the requirement that the free width of the stairway must be at least 600 mm, yet preferably 800 mm. Where a stairway is often used for passage by several persons simultaneously, the free width must be increased to 1000 mm (Special exceptions, see the standard)
Item 5.8 The stairway height in the individual flights of stairs must not exceed 3000 mm, otherwise a landing must be inserted before the continuation to the next flight. The length of the landing must be
at least 800 mm and in other respects equal to or larger than the stairway width. In cases where only a single flight is involved, the height must not exceed 4000 mm. |
